Developed a 360-Degree 3D data browser for Buddhist artifacts for City University of Hong Kong’s School of Creative Media’s 360-degree projection space.
360-degree 3D Data Browser was the topic of my MA master thesis that I did under the supervision of Prof. Jeffrey Shaw and Prof. Sarah Kenderdine at the School of Creative Media City University of Hong Kong. An interactive and immersive galaxy of Buddhist artifacts was created to visualize on a panoramic 360 screen which is also called gallery 360. The interaction with the artifacts was developed using a smart tablet as can be seen in the above video. By moving your finger on the tablet screen you could control the cursor on the panoramic screen and with a single tap you could select one of any 3D models that were floating in the air in front of you. 3D glasses made the whole visualization three-dimensional and the visitor felt like surrounded by Buddhist artifacts all around it. Upon selection the artifact appeared even closer to them and bigger in size that they could move, rotate and experience right in front of their eyes. A brief information related to the selected artifact was displayed on the screen of tablet as well.
