Museum of Knowledge Science

2020 to 2021

A virtual, interactive, and immersive space for artists

Museum of Knowledge Science is an interactive and immersive 3D space that was designed during the Covid-19 period. The idea was to create a virtual space where artists could exhibit their artworks during the pandemic because the physical spaces were shut down or had very limited access during the pandemic. We first presented this idea of an online virtual space for artists at the Ars Electronica 2020 festival under their Knowledge for Humanity (K4H+) Research Institute.

The Museum of Knowledge Science was also a part of the first edition of the Lahore Digital Arts Festival in 2021. the artworks from three talented artists Louise Deininger, Omar Gilani, and Muaaz Ullah were displayed in the virtual space. The visitors could experience their artworks online, walk through the immersive space, and enjoy the artworks just like a physical space. A multi-layered interaction mechanism was developed where visitors not only interacted with the artworks but could interact with each other as well through text messages. A message icon was created on the right side of the window that anyone could click and send a message to other visitors who were present in the virtual gallery at the same time.
